December 10, 2004
In a bid to strengthen its position in the European market, LG Electronics has set up a mobile phone R&D center in France. Located in Paris, the center will be dedicated to developing 3G and multimedia handsets and help the company forge a closer relationship with operators such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, and Orange by supplying customized handsets.
LG Electronics looks to recruit over 30% of the researchers outside of Korea and employ 5,000 R&D personnel by 2006.
In addition to the Parisian unit, outside of Korea LG also operates R&D centers in San Diego, Beijing, Bangalore, and Moscow.
